ABOUT ME

Putting My Experience
to Work

My name is Patti Young. I am running for State Senate because all the people of  Tennessee must have access to affordable health care. Our children deserve the right to attend well-funded public schools where they feel safe, women should have access to medical care that relates to their own bodies, and we must have sustainable climate regulations to protect our future. We need officials in Nashville that support legislation relating to all Tennesseans. I hope you can help me, help you, to make Tennessee a better place to live and raise our families.

In 1978 I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in education and later followed with a Masters. I completed course work during the Summer of  1978 from Memphis State  in Environmental Education and I earned a  certificate in 1981 from  National Outdoor Leadership School for Winter Survival Skills in  Yellowstone National Park in  Wyoming.

I worked for the Boys and Girls Clubs both in Tempe Arizona and Knoxville TN, and then taught in Maryville City Schools for 34 years before retiring.  During the past 9 years, I have worked with Indivisible, our local Democratic Party and The Blount County Animal Welfare Society.  With my  husband Phil , also a retired teacher, we own and operate a small equestrian facility and Summer Camp  in Blount County. We have two grown children, many horses, dogs, cats and chickens.
